Job Description: Ignition SCADA Architect / Specialist

Location: Toronto, ON / Edmonton, AB / Calgary, AB (On-site)

Work Type: Full-time Contract

Duration: 12 Months

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Architecture: Lead the design, architecture, and configuration of Ignition SCADA solutions, including advanced HMIs, custom scripting, and efficient data flows tailored to enterprise and OT standards.
• Systems Integration: Drive seamless connectivity between SCADA environments and enterprise systems, including data historians, MES, GIS, asset management software, and cloud platforms.
• Security & Governance: Ensure all solution designs comply with industrial cybersecurity frameworks and network segmentation standards (e.g., Purdue Model, IEC 62443).
• Implementation & Lifecycle: Oversee commissioning, factory/site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), deployment, and high-tier troubleshooting of performance or communication bottlenecks.
• Stakeholder Leadership: Facilitate requirements-gathering workshops, present technical options with data-driven recommendations, manage technical risk, and coordinate vendor delivery.
• Mentorship & Documentation: Document current/future-state architectures and deliver clean blueprints while mentoring team members in SCADA best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Core Experience: 8–12 years in industrial automation, with a minimum of 3 years serving as an OT Solutions Architect, Technical Lead, or Technical BA.
• Ignition Mastery: Extensive, proven experience in architectural design, deployment models, and high-availability setups specifically using Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA.
• Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), edge networks, and standard OT environments.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a strictly equivalent technical stream.
• Certifications: Ignition Core or Gold Certification is highly preferred.

Preferred Attributes

• Industry experience within the Renewable Energy domain.
• Practical application of OT cybersecurity principles and network segmentation.
